Working across the boroughs of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil and Torfaen, Head4Arts delivers pioneering learning and participation activities that have an impact on well-being in the following ways:
Using pride in our cultural heritage as a way of bringing communities together to combat loneliness and isolation – our projects connect people and generations, working with all skill levels.
Using green spaces to help build safe, friendly communities – we stage fun, free events for all across the region’s parks which open people’s minds to an appreciation of the natural environment, and enjoyment of the outdoor opportunities on their doorsteps.
Improving the well-being of communities – we work with housing associations and health boards for a joined-up approach to helping vulnerable groups and offering new ways of supporting continued good health.
Developing innovative projects supporting learning and literacy as a gateway to educational skills. We pilot new ways of engaging children and adults with reading, stimulating their interest in Welsh language learning and exploring their cultural heritage Read more about some of our pioneering projects here.
We work with our partners to provide arts-based learning programmes for people of all ages as a path to employment. This includes offering alternative routes to accreditation for young people at risk of dropping out of education, creating opportunities for volunteering and supporting the professional development of arts practitioners at all stages of their careers.
Raising awareness of climate change – such as our annual participation in WWF’s global movement, Earth Hour, working with local partners to encourage more sustainable lifestyle.
