Arty Parky: Creative Half Term Activities
This half term, Head4Arts is inviting families and people of all ages to get creative at Arty Parky – a series of free events taking place in four parks as part of the Family Arts Festival.
During Arty Parky, participants will work alongside environmental artist Kate Raggett to create spectacular land drawings made entirely from natural materials foraged in the parks, such as fallen leaves, twigs, conkers and seeds. Building on the success of last year’s events, Head4Arts hopes to create four more amazing autumnal artworks in four parks across the region.
Each of the artworks will be photographed and, in return for helping out, everyone who takes part will receive postcards of the finished pieces. Participants are welcome to join in at any time throughout the day and stay as long as they like – just dropping in or staying all day.
A previous participant explained that “My family and I enjoyed Arty Parky so much last year we attended two events in different venues. It was great to be able to do something together as a family. We were really impressed with the final drawings and the postcards we received were a lovely memento”.
The events run from 10.30am to 3pm on the following dates:
Saturday 24th October – Bedwellty Park, Tredegar
Sunday 25th October – Pontypool Park
Friday 30th October – Morgan Jones Park, Caerphilly
Saturday 31st October – Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr Tydfil
The more people who take part, the more remarkable the results will be so please come along and help out!
As events will be taking place outdoors – we advise wearing warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear.
The activity is suitable for all ages– young people aged 14 and under should be accompanied by an adult.
The events will take place in most weather (including rain!) however, Head4Arts reserves the right to cancel the event in severe conditions – check our website and social media pages for updates.
