Head4Arts would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part in Arty Parky and helped us to create four fantastic land drawings in our local parks.
Over 200 people turned out in the sun, wind and rain to get involved in this ambitious environmental art project which was linked to the Family Arts Festival and the Big Draw. The events, which were led by artist Kate Raggett, were held over the autumn half term in Pontypool Park, Bedwellty Park, Cyfarthfa Park and Morgan Jones Park – covering each of the four local authority areas that Head4Arts serves.
At each of the parks, participants foraged for natural materials, such as leaves, twigs and berries, paying careful consideration to the different colours, shapes and textures of the items available. Participants were then invited to use their chosen materials to decorate a section of the land drawing in their own style. This combined effort led to the creation of four beautiful, site-specific artworks that were left in situ for park visitors to enjoy.
The four artworks were photographed and the images produced will be printed as postcards. Everyone who took part in the project is entitled to a pack of free postcards showing all four images – these will be available to collect in local venues from the beginning of December onwards.
Those who signed up will receive emails to remind them when postcards are ready for collection.
Please feel free to get in touch if you require any further information about this project.
