Arty Parky

October is Arty Parky month! Be inspired by the colours of Autumn and create a leaf design to be included in our giant digital mandala artwork

This year unfortunately we can’t all be together in Valleys parks during October half term like we usually do, finding pretty leaves and creating beautiful giant leaf mandalas. However, we’ve been working tirelessly over the past few weeks to bring you a virtual and remote Arty Parky event that celebrates the spirit of togetherness found every year at Bedwellty, Morgan Jones, Pontypool and Cyfarthfa parks.

So, here’s the challenge: This year we’re going to create our biggest mandala yet, and you’ve got more creative control than ever. We want you to go outdoors, by yourself or with your household, and forage for autumn leaves, twigs, and other natural materials. Then arrange what you’ve found into one of five shapes: a circle, square, triangle, diamond, or petal. Be as creative as you can, think about different colours and textures. How can your design stand out?

Once you’ve made your design, take a picture from above and share it on Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag #ArtyParky. To get your friends involved in the fun and help our final artwork get even bigger, tag two or more friends and challenge them to make their own leafy creation.

Alternatively, you can message us (Head4Arts) on Facebook with a picture of your design, or you can email what you’ve done to us at info@headforarts.org.uk

Towards the end of the month, we’ll arrange all of the submitted designs into a giant mandala pattern and share it with you all on our website.
